Artist's Privates (Link)

This interactive In this interactive work I wanted to capture the hidden experience of my body. The work is in the form of a body map linking to 14 unique videos. Each video provides a candid take on an activity which is performed in regards to this body part.

Inspired by the concept of the happening I wanted to escape the preplanned and edited form of video work and promote audience intervention in the work. Each participant is instructed to watch the video of their choice at full video in public in tandem with others. Further, they are instructed to avoid the use of the go back button forcing them to watch their instinctually picked video. In such an environment any given audience member would simultaneously hear and potentially see many simultaneous takes on “my privates”, through their device and those of others. At the same time any given individual will seldom be capable of understanding the context of each video in this environment.
The Playgrounds of our Future (Link)

In this installation I wished to explore the notion of land purpose. The work is composed of narrative audio with complementary colored video projected on the ground. The audio details the transformation of a playground to an industrial site.

This work is inspired by expanded cinema works such Lis Rhodes’s Light Music. Her work forces the viewer to stand in front of the projection, forcing them to interact with the video. Similarly, projecting my video onto the floor places the viewer in the location of the events which are occurring in the audio. The viewer is to be transported into this space and bear witness- through hearing and sight- to the events.
A Trilogy of Boredom (Performance)

In this performance, I aimed to explore what is perhaps the most universal experience of our age- boredom and stress during the quarantine. The work is composed of three distinct wooden tipis along a trail which simulate the different nuisances of experience which different populations would experience during the quarantine. Each tipi is symbolic of the different approached or consequences to “social distancing”- the battle cry of the COVID-19 pandemic. The performance consisted of sitting in each tipi for twenty minutes and interacting with people passing by the trail to varying degrees.

The location of this setup is very representative of the experience of social distancing. As the only means of social interaction- outside of the internet- are the nods and hellos given to neighbors during walks, I felt that this was a good location to complete my performance.
